SCS TOY Named Sandhills Region TOY Finalist

We’re proud to celebrate South Johnson Elementary’s Mrs. Latoya Hibbert-James, who has been selected as a Sandhills Region Teacher of the Year finalist! Her dedication, creativity, and love for her students truly set her apart.

Scotland County Schools is proud to celebrate Mrs. Latoya Hibbert-James, 4th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies teacher at South Johnson Elementary, who has been selected as one of two finalists for the Sandhills Region Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Hibbert-James, who was named Scotland County Schools Teacher of the Year during Convocation in August, continues to distinguish herself as an innovative educator and dedicated advocate for her students. Her passion for teaching, commitment to excellence, and genuine care for her students make her an inspiration to colleagues and families alike.

As part of the regional selection process, the committee will visit Mrs. Hibbert-James’s classroom to observe her teaching in action. If selected as the regional winner, she will advance to compete for the Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year, to be announced this spring.

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Hibbert-James on this outstanding recognition and in wishing her the very best as she represents Scotland County Schools at the regional level.
